| Recorded with two mouths and
a Boomerang digital phrase sampler on December 1 & 2, 1999 while peaceful
protests stymied the WTO. Thanks to a few simple effects--2 speed settings,
forward and reverse playback, and layering--these vocal improvisations created
in one take and on the fly have a richness and depth of sound uncommon even
in recordings costing hundreds of dollars more to produce. Costly studio
costs were avoided by having the duo record in the living room at 3843 Fremont
Ave N. #303, Seattle, WA, 98103. Email

of this heartening experimental album. Costs were yet further reduced by
recording the entire thing on pre-recorded Vivaldi Four Seasons cassette,
which in places was allowed to come through. Other than these short forays
into the perfectly ordered world of classical music, one brief bamboo flute
rif, and occasional intrusions of ambient noise (sirens, coughing, laughter),
the sounds on this disc were all produced in the space where mouth meets
microphone. |
